Sports culture is strong at Duke, especially in basketball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and golf. Duke competes at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Duke has traditional athletic rivalries with UNC and NC State.
Duke student dedication is tested and demonstrated through a tradition of camping out for big basketball games. Students construct a temporary tent community known as "Krzyzewskiville" or "K-Ville” outside of the Cameron Indoor Stadium. Camping out allows students to show school spirit, increase community, secure coveted game tickets, and show their dedication to the Duke Blue Devils.
