Colleges for a 34 ACT Score

Students with a composite ACT score of 34 have a national rank of 99. National rank is the number of students who scored higher or lower than a certain ACT score.

34 is an excellent ACT score. If you scored a 34 on the ACT, you did better than 99 percent of all students who took the exam. Only one out of every 100 test-takers gets above a 34 on the ACT. The highest score possible on the ACT is a 36. The average ACT score is 20, so a 34 is significantly above average.

The best colleges and universities usually look for ACT scores in the 32-36 range.

Studying for the ACT can help you earn a top score, like 34 or higher. Take an ACT practice test to see which areas you are strong in and where you can improve. Focus your ACT prep on the areas where you have the most opportunity for improvement to get the best ACT score possible.

    From the forums:

Should I retake the ACT if I got a 34?

"I’m a senior with an ACT of 34. Would it be worth studying for and retaking the ACT in December to get a 35 or 36? I have very little time and I'm applying to 15+ colleges, so I’m not sure if it’s worth it."

    Top Answers:

    • You’re good. If you don’t get in where you want, it won’t be because of that ACT score.
    • Retake the ACT if you are applying for scholarships, but not to improve your chances at admissions.
