New Cybersecurity Response Studio Wins $1.25M in Federal Funding

The University at Albany is set to receive a significant boost in cybersecurity with $1.25 million allocated from the 2024 federal budget. This funding supports the establishment of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Studio (CREST), a new initiative aimed at enhancing cybersecurity preparedness and response.

Led by UAlbany's interdisciplinary team, CREST will utilize advanced technologies such as AI and virtual reality to simulate cyberattacks and train decision-makers from various sectors.

The initiative will offer in-person and virtual simulations, leveraging high-tech equipment and drawing upon UAlbany's cybersecurity resources. Additionally, CREST aims to develop a user-friendly cyber response toolkit and collaborate with state government agencies and industry partners to bolster cyber defense efforts.
